Preparing for year 2011

The year 2010 is coming to end and this is the last week. It is worth giving glory to God for keeping you safe and in good health throughout the year. If this year has been a rough one for you, God wants you to rely completely on Him so that you can have a smooth sail through the year 2011.

Many people struggle with habits and addictions. They however make up their minds that from the New Year they will be better disciplined. They then decide to make a “New Year resolution”. This resolution, most times do not last for more than 6 months. You may be wondering by now and asking the question, “What is the way forward”?

There is a truth that many people find difficult to accept. The truth is that man does not have any power to change his ways. Power only comes as a gift from God to anyone who believes in Jesus as his Lord and saviour.

John 1:12 - “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”.

If you are willing to live a life that you were born to live, then you need God’s help. He is very willing to help you. He wants you to come into a close relationship with him. As soon as you accept Him as your Lord, He comes to reside in you.

John 14:23 - “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him”.

As soon as the Lord comes to live in you, you are required to be completely dependent on Him. He wants you to come to a place of total abandonment in him and this is a place of rest. Allow Him to live through you so that you can leave that life that you are struggling with. He wants you to die to self and rely completely in Him.

Acts 17:28a - “For in him we live, and move, and have our being”

The above scripture has the ability to reproduce itself in your life as you meditate on it all the time. There is power in this verse of scripture to renew your mind and transform your life. “In God you live, in Him you move and in Him you have your being”. Even when you are still struggling with your habits, do not stop meditating on the word of God. The word of God will start changing you from the inside and the way you think starts to change. Within a short time, your transformation will be evident to everybody.

Year 2011 is your year of complete breakthrough. Once you are born of God you have already overcome the world. Through your faith in Christ you already have victory over all your circumstances. Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

The Best Gift

Wow its Christmas again! As you know, the Christmas period is a very colourful time of the year. The streets and shopping malls are well decorated and there are bright lights everywhere. Many homes are also decorated and the Christmas tree is usually placed in a corner in the living room. Under the Christmas tree are the gifts that children believe that Santa has brought for them.

A lot of people are now on a shopping spree. Most of them would have finished buying gifts for their loved ones. The last minute shopping is usually for groceries and of course the “Christmas turkey”. Every year people exchange gifts. I am sure you have spent some money in buying gifts for your loved ones. What kind of gifts are you expecting this year?

Cast your mind back to last year Christmas. Can you remember how much you cherished the gifts that you received? Where are the gifts now? Do you still cherish them as you did last year? Have you noticed that after the New Year, the excitement of Christmas dies down and life continues as usual?

It will be nice to imagine receiving a gift that you can cherish forever. This kind of gift must be of “great value”. You may think that this gift is pure gold or diamond. As a matter of fact, it’s far much better than that. I received this gift twenty- two years ago and I have always cherished it. This gift changed my life. This gift is with me everywhere I go. I feel contented with it and I have since had peace in my heart even in times of challenging situations.

John 3:16 -“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

The gift that I am talking about is actually God himself. He came to the world in the form of a person whose name is Jesus Christ. He came to sort out the problem of sin once and for all. Sin has brought a lot of problems to the world. Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and the human race has since inherited the nature of sin.

Romans 3:23 -“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.

The penalty for their sin is death. It is not possible for any man to save you because every man was born a sinner. That is why the Saviour of the world had to be born of a virgin woman; so that there won’t be any contamination from the seed of man. Jesus Christ paid the full penalty for your sin by dying on the cross. It was your sin that nailed Jesus Christ to the cross. Once you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sin and you confess Him as your Lord and Saviour, you will receive the free gift of salvation. Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for all your sins past, present and future.

Romans 6:23 -“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

Once you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour, you become righteous in the sight of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21- “For He has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”.

You can make the best decision of your life today by accepting the best gift. You must realise that you are a sinner and that you need a saviour. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for you to bring you back into a relationship with God. Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and saviour and you will be saved from your sins.

Romans 10:9 - “That if you will confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.

Enjoy your gift and do not let it slip away from you. This is the best gift ever. Have a wonderful Christmas and spread the good news.

Seek first the Kingdom of God

This is a very common statement from the bible which is often quoted by the body of Christ. Every man on the face of this earth has been asked to seek the kingdom of God for all their needs. Everything we need to enjoy life and live a godly life can only be found in the kingdom of God. Seeking the kingdom of God is finding out the will of God and doing it. For example, if you want to find out how something works, you need to follow the manufacturer’s manual. It is the will of God for you to be saved, so find out how to be saved from His book.

Salvation means deliverance from sin and death. The consequences of sin are sickness, poverty, rejection, addiction, condemnation, slavery, bitterness, hatred, all the works of the flesh and ultimately death. Sin is man’s nature and the only solution is found in God.

Matthew 6:33 - “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.

There is no righteous man on the face of the earth. God is the only one who is righteous. God in the person of Jesus Christ however became sin for you. All your sins were put on him on the cross and he paid the full penalty for your sin by dying on the cross. Righteousness is a gift from God and so cannot be attained by your performance but by what Jesus Christ has done. The righteousness of God is a gift which is received by faith in what Jesus Christ has done. Jesus Christ is the righteousness of God. Seeking God’s righteousness is having trust and confidence in Jesus. You have to be fully persuaded that Jesus is all you need and you totally rely on him.

Romans 3:22 - “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference”.

Seeking the kingdom of God is remaining in relationship in him. He becomes your shepherd according to Psalm 23. When the Lord is your shepherd, you cannot lack any good thing. When you are focused on God, you won’t need to struggle to get your needs met. When you seek after things, you end up spending unnecessary time and effort. You become stressed out and sometimes you don’t get the best from what you have laboured for.

The Lord is omnipotent and omniscient. He knows where the biggest fishes are and how to catch them. Seeking God makes your ear sensitive and you are able to hear him clearly as he leads and guides you.

Psalm 32:8 - “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which thou shall go: I will guide you with My eye”.

There is peace for those who put their trust in God. Good health, prosperity, power, wisdom, long life etc are all found in Him. When you are in Him, all these things are yours to enjoy.

Isaiah 26:3 - “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you”.

The devil cannot stop you from seeking God’s kingdom if you so desire. This is because the word of God cannot be broken. Nothing can separate you from the love of God

Romans 8:35,38-39 -“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come”. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

The devil might stop you from getting things, but he cannot stop you from getting God. Once you are totally dependent on God, those things you desire will start to follow you. The things that follow you cannot be stopped by the devil because the word of God cannot be broken.

Matthew 6:33 - “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.

To conclude, as long as you are seeking God’s kingdom, blessings will continue to follow you and the devil will have no power to stop these blessings. Quit seeking things and start seeking God.

Be Motivated by His Love

God wants everything we do to be motivated by the knowledge of His love for us. Love is the nature of God, it is His character. He demonstrated His love towards us by becoming a man and dying on the cross of Calvary. He did not do this to show off his greatness, nor his power but His action was motivated by His love.

John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.

For many years until recently, I have tried to please God by my doings. I was praying to Him, worshiping him, serving in the church in order to show how much I love Him. I never realised that I cannot really love Him until I know how much He loves me. The more the revelation of His love for me, the easier it would be for me to love Him. This is the message that I heard Arthur Meintjes teach this week and it has been a wonderful revelation to me. God wants you to come into a deeper relationship with Him because this brings about more revelation of His love for you.

1 John 4:10 - “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins”.

Two weeks ago, I heard the voice of God clearly during a time of worship saying “be still and know that I am God”. Since then, I have been learning to depend on him and allowing him to live through me. I am now coming to the understanding that when I learn to rest in God, the revelation of His love comes with ease. It is written that God is love (1John 4:16), so knowing God is knowing His love. God wants us to live our lives with the understanding and experience of His love. He wants all our actions to be based on his love and also for us to know that we exist because of His love for us.

Acts 17:28 - “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.

It is a good thing to be committed to the work of God. However, this can be frustrating if you are trying to do this in the flesh and by your own ability. You might feel compelled to please God by being involved in church activities. Church activities are good but God wants a growing relationship with you. It is through this relationship that He would be able to work through you. Allow God to do the work through you while you rest in Him. This is because you are a “human being” and not a” human doing”. Stop restricting yourself but rather feel free in Christ, as He is the only one who can take the weight of your burdens.

Galatians 5:1 - “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”.

You just want to be in God’s presence because you know His love for you. You enjoy talking to him, seeking His face and worshiping him. When you are in need, you approach Him because you trust Him and you are confident of His love for you. Everything done in love is done in faith. Anytime you come to God, the only thing you experience is His love and His goodness. You might change your mind about God, but God won’t change His mind about you. Rest in God and stop striving to do, because everything has been completed by Christ. Remember on the cross Jesus said “It is finished”.

Be still and know that I am God.

“Be still and know that I am God”. These are the words I heard the Lord speak to me last week during a time of worship. I obeyed Him and immediately I felt calm. I was surprised because prior to that moment, I was not aware that there was no calmness in my soul. The following day, there was a word of knowledge from a colleague of mine. This word was spoken generally to the class but I knew that the Lord was speaking directly to me. He said, “God wants you to stop holding on to things but release everything to Him”.

I knew immediately that God was confirming what he had told me the day before. The third day in class, the summary of the lesson was “waiting upon God”. My heart was full with joy because for three days in a row, the Lord had been ministering to me and was saying the same thing in different ways. Since then, I have had a change in perception, stopped struggling but instead started learning to trust Him.

Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth”.

After a time of worship or prayer, it is good to be quiet and wait before the Lord. This is the time to receive from Him. Waiting upon God makes it easier for you to live by the life of Christ within you and not by your carnal nature. You stop holding on to things but rather hand them over to the Lord and allow him to be in charge. Relax; be assured that the everlasting hands of God are holding you and nothing can pluck you out of His hands. Every task ahead of you might look like mighty waters that want to drown you but learn to rest in him.

Paul the apostle lived a life of total dependence on Christ. He saw himself as crucified in Him and so it was Christ living through him. Whatever the faith of Christ can accomplish, you also can accomplish once you allow Him to live through you.

Galatians 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”.

When you wait upon God, your spiritual ears become more sensitive to God. Your spiritual sight becomes sharp just like the eyes of an eagle. You have the divine enablement to achieve more within a shorter time because it is now the Lord working through you. Your feeble knees are strengthened and your hands receive strength.

Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.

The time spent waiting upon the Lord must not be passive. You can spend it meditating on the word of God. You can also soak in his presence whilst listening to Christian worship. In the last few days, I have been receiving more revelation from God and more understanding of His word. Your body is the temple of the living God. He is the owner and occupier. Stop being and let Him be. He wants to reveal himself and be exalted through you. Will you allow Him?

The Gospel sets you Free.

The gospel can be defined as the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This accomplishment has brought freedom to mankind.

Whenever the gospel is mentioned, most people usually think it’s simply about evangelism and winning the lost to Christ. However, the gospel is for everybody whether saved or unsaved. You start your Christian life with the gospel and continue in the gospel.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”

There is no other way that man can be saved except through the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is pregnant with the power of God. This is the only power that sets man free from the works of the devil. This power can only be released when you have faith in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 1:16 - “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek”.

I will define salvation as liberation from everything that cannot be found in the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is God’s domain. In the kingdom of God, there is no sin, sickness, lack, sorrow, rejection, depression, hatred, bitterness, condemnation, struggles, worries, bondage and the list is unending. In the kingdom of God, there is liberty to communicate and fellowship with God. This Kingdom that I am talking about is within you if you are a born again Christian. “You”, is referring to your spirit man.

Luke 17:20-21- “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation” Neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Ideally, there is supposed to be a continuous flow of what lies within you to your soul. This makes you realise who you are and what you have. However, to achieve this, you must allow the word of God to change the way you think. When you read and study the word of God, the word tells you who you really are in Christ. The more you focus on the word of God, the more your soul comes into agreement with who you are in the spirit. This then changes what you think of and how you think. Consequently, both factors begin to influence the words that come out of your mouth.

To release what resides within you, your conversation must be according to the gospel. The words that come out of your mouth must be according to what the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ has accomplished for you. The gospel says that you are saved, delivered, prosperous, and healed and that all the works of the enemy are destroyed. So, no matter the circumstance and the situation, you must always confess positively what Jesus Christ has accomplished for you on the cross. When he said it is finished, He meant what He said. Your pain is finished, your poverty is finished, your bad habits and addictions are finished.

Philippians 1:27a - “Only let your conversation be as it becomes the Gospel of Christ”

Are you a Christian and still walking in the flesh, therefore struggling to live a life that is pleasing unto God? You are trying please God by your works and this leads to frustration. You are still committing fornication, you are addicted to drugs, and you are struggling with various kinds of immoral habits. You keep falling in and out of sin. You feel condemned and you sometimes think that it is God condemning you. I have good news for you.

Romans 8:1- “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”

The first thing you should know is that God loves you and He looks at you for who you are in your inner man. Secondly, the condemning thoughts you are having are from your heart and it is not God condemning you. The solution to the problem is that you must begin to see yourself the way you really are in the spirit. The kingdom of God lies within you, therefore the problems you are having cannot be in your spirit but it is within your soul. As a result, you must begin to renew your mind with the word of God and this brings a change in what you think and how you think.

The word of God says that “as Christ is, so are you in this world” (1John 4: 17). You have the nature of Christ in you. As you begin to confess who you are, slowly a transformation begins to take place in your soul and this changes the way you think. The manner in which you think, also determines the way you express your words. This is because you will speak out of the abundance of what is in your heart. Shortly you will discover that the desire to sin has disappeared and you are now focused on Godly things.

Whenever there is an issue in your life, your confession must be “this is what Jesus died for”. Your faith must always be in the completed work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. You will be confident that it is well because He died and rose again. This is your evidence, your assurance and confidence. You must be fully persuaded that your problems are finished because Jesus himself declared that it is finished on the cross of Calvary.

The Word of God is Health to your Body Part 2

In the last blog, I described the word of God as medication; which when taken as prescribed, will give the desired result. This week I am going to continue with the same topic.

Do you know that as a born again child of God, your body is the temple of the living God?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - “What? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”.

What is the most common activity that goes on in the temple of God? I guess it is worship and prayer. These are the only activities that have the legal right to operate in the temple of God. Cast your mind back to what happened when Jesus went to the temple of God and found people buying and selling. He did not waste time at all but instead sent them out immediately. That is what you too are supposed to do when other activities are going on in your body that are not ordained by God; you have the authority to put an end to such activities. You do this by commanding those activities to cease and then to leave your body in Jesus name.

Matthew 21:12-14 - “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple; and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves. And said unto them, it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves”.

What I can deduce from this verse of scripture is that the temple of God became a den for thieves because it was not used as a house of prayer. Likewise if your body is not used a house of prayer, it might end up being a den for thieves. Jesus described the thief (Satan) as coming to steal kill and destroy.

John 10:10 - “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly”.

How do you make your body a house of prayer? The answer is that you pray in tongues more often. When you pray in tongues, it is the Holy Spirit helping you to pray with your spirit and you are praying according to the will of God. The Lord owns His temple and I believe that His assistance in prayer is more effective. It is the owner of the temple that knows the needs of the temple better. It is not by your might nor by your power but by the spirit of God (Zachariah 4:6).

Romans 8:26-27 - “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God”.

I will remind you again that when you are born again; your spirit becomes complete and perfect. Your spirit becomes one with the spirit of Christ (1Corinthians 6:17) and as Christ is, so are you in this world (1 John 2:27).

When you pray in tongues, you are building up yourself (soul and body) to be in conformity to who you really are in the spirit. In the spirit, you have good health and you lack nothing. When you build up yourself by praying in tongues, what was not whole before in your body starts becoming whole. Speaking in tongues by the leading of the Holy Spirit builds up your body from every wear and tear.

Jude 1:20 - “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”.

I want you to know that sickness and disease are strangers in your body that need to be kicked out. They are strangers who make themselves guests but you must not welcome them. When you continue to pray in the spirit, every sickness or disease in your body begins to leave your body. It does not matter where the sickness might be hiding, it will be snuffed out in Jesus name. Every stranger in your body must fade away in Jesus name.

Psalm 18:45 - “The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places”.

Praying in tongues keeps you in the love of God and this builds up your faith. You begin to have more understanding of the love that God has for you. The more you understand His love, the more revelation you have of the completed work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. One of His completed works is that you have been healed by the stripes on His body. This revelation of the love of God drives out fear from your life because the bible says that perfect love drives out fear (1John 4:18). Your faith is built up because there is no more fear in your heart.

Jude 1:20-21 – “But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life”.

The bible says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord raises a standard against the enemy. Who is this enemy? It is the devil (John 10:10). He is the one that steals the health of people because he is a thief. When you pray in tongues, rivers of living water starts to flow out of your belly (John 7:37-38). I believe that these rivers are infinite and so has the ability to stand against any flood. The rivers of living water flowing out of your belly raises up a standard against the enemy. What you have flowing out of your belly is the power of the Holy Ghost and this will flush out every sickness from your body.

Isaiah 59:19 – “So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him”.

God has provided everything you need to enjoy your life and also to live a godly life. He has prepared for you great and mighty things. Some of these things eyes have not seen them and ears have not heard them. You can only know these things by the help of the Holy Spirit. Allow him to help you pray and you will be amazed as he searches through your spirit and begins to give you revelation of those things that your mind has not perceived before. Continue to pray in the spirit and believe what the word of God says about you. Your transformation would soon be evident to all.

The Word of God is Health to your Body Part 1

Last week’s letter was about the word of God and its power. This week you will have more understanding of the word of God and its power to heal your body.

With regards to health, you can liken the word of God to medication. You are expected to take your medication as prescribed by your physician if you want a positive result. Symptoms may persist for a while but you have faith in the medication. You usually continue taking the medication for at least three days before you conclude that it is not effective. God is the greatest physician and he is willing to heal at all times. He only wants you to take his word as prescribed.

Proverbs 4:20-22 -“My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh”.

The Application of the Word of God

1. Attend to the word of God: (Pay attention to it). Look up bible passages that talk about victory in your situation.1. Attend to the word of God: (Pay attention to it). Look up bible passages that talk about victory in your situation.

2. Incline your ear to what it says: Begin to read these passages to yourself and believe that they are for you.

3. Let them not depart from your eyes: Meditate on them all the time.

4. Keep them in the midst of your heart: Continue to ponder over them and believe what the word of God says about you. Do not entertain any negative thoughts. Allow the word of God penetrate your heart because that is where it will impact your life.

Do not allow any negative thoughts to shift the word of God out of your heart. When negative thoughts come, reject them immediately.
(Study 2 Corinthians 10:3-5) Continue to confess out loud what the word of God says about you. Do not give up and you will soon see a change in your situation.

5. They are life to those that find them: Begin to see yourself as the word of God say you are. This is because you have found the truth and the truth has set you free.

6. The word of God is health to your flesh: Begin to enjoy good health.

7. Maintenance: Continue to maintain your victory by confessing the word of God.

                                                   Testimonies
Testimony 1
There was a time that I developed back ache and so I asked my husband to apply liniment to ease the pain. However, the pain became so bad that I felt the pain as I breathed. The following day, I woke up with severe pain and I thought to myself “why don’t I take some analgesics?” Then I thought that I should be able to believe God for all things.

Almost immediately, I changed my mind and started confessing the word of God. I was healed by the afternoon. I initially thought it was a bad mattress causing the problem but I later found out that it was because I was sleeping on two mattresses at the same time. I rectified the situation and the back ache did not return. God did two things, he healed me and then he showed me the cause of the problem to prevent reoccurrence. If you learn to believe God for little things, it will not be difficult to believe him for big things.

Testimony 2
There was another time that I started having symptoms of urinary tract infection. I felt pressed to go to the toilet and all I passed was a tiny amount of urine and the process was painful. The pain continued in the lower part of my abdomen. I have had this symptom several times in the past, and I only felt better after taking a course of antibiotics. I had to make a decision whether to get antibiotics, or stand on the word of God.

As a medical doctor, I knew that in the physical the infection could only settle down with antibiotics. I however decided to meditate on the word of God which says that “by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed”. The pain continued but I did not give up. Later on, the intensity of the pain began to subside and in approximately 4 hours, the pain had gone. The next time I went to the toilet I passed urine freely and it was pain free. The following morning the pain came back and immediately I spoke the word of God “by the stripes of Jesus I am healed” and the pain disappeared instantly and that was the end of the infection

I want to you to know and believe, that the word of God does not return to him void until it has accomplished what it has been sent to do.

Isaiah 55:11 - “So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”

The word of God will accomplish great things and prosper in your life in Jesus name. Continue to meditate on the word of God, confess it and your transformation will soon be evident to all.

Power in the Word of God

The word of God is the word that proceeds out of the heart of God. This is the word that God put in the minds of 40 different authors. They included prophets, laymen and various people from diverse backgrounds. These men lived in different places and at different periods of time. The written word of God is contained in 66 books of the bible. The word of God is living and has the power to change situations.

2 Peter 1:19-21 -“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”.

The word of God is light and it shines in every area where you apply it. It has great transforming power.

Hebrews 4:12 - “The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.

The first truth you need to understand is that you are a triune being.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 - “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

You have a spirit, a soul and a body. When you became born again, it was your spirit that became born again and has become a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 - “Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold all things are become new”.

1 John 4:17 points out that as Christ is, so is your spirit in this world. As a born again Christian, your spirit is perfect, complete and full of power and the glory of God. Your identity needs to be who you are in the spirit. If there is anything in your life that is not in keeping with whom you are in the spirit, then you need the word of God to put things into shape.

This is because what the word of God says about you is true. In the spirit you are already healed, already prosperous, already delivered and free. The first thing you need to do is familiarise yourself with the word of God. You need to study it often and pray for revelation. Revelation comes by faith. Once you have asked for revelation, believe that you have received it and you will have it.

Begin to apply the word of God to every area of your life. Apply it to your health, finances, education, ministry and every situation that you might find yourself in. Apply the word of God to situations where nothing else is working; the word of God endures in those areas.

1 Peter 1:25 - “But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you”.

In order to maintain a good life you also need to apply the word of God. This can be called maintenance or servicing. Your car does not need to develop a fault before you drain the engine oil and change the plugs. People say that prevention is better than cure. When you confess regularly what the word of God says about you, this living word continues to manifest in every area of your life and this enables you to walk in the divine blessings of God.

Psalm 91:16 says that “With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation”. This is a good maintenance scripture. This is because you are already declaring that you will not die young and that you will have revelation of every word of God that will meet all your needs.

Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of God. Romans 6:4 indicates that  "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life".

You can see here that there is power in the glory of God. The power of God is wrapped in his glory. If the glory of God raised the dead, then your needs can be supplied by the glory of God. The same power that rose up Jesus Christ from the dead can supply all your needs if you believe.

Philippians 4:19 - “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.

All your needs in your spirit, soul and your body can be met by the glory of God. Healing, salvation, deliverance, financial breakthrough, revelation, understanding etc, are all needs that can be met according to the riches of the glory of God by Christ Jesus.

This series continues next week when I will be talking about the power of the word of God bringing health to your body. Till then keep the word of God before your eyes.

Enjoy God’s blessings.
